Port Waikato Camp

Port Waikato Camp.

Introduction.

Port Waikato is a camp that schools go to for the children to have an outdoors experience. It is a friendly enjoyable camp. Also it used to be a health camp a long time ago.

Location.

Port Waikato is tucked away in a secluded area surrounded by hills and covered in bush and trees. It takes approximately an hour and a half to get there when travelling from morrinsville. There are lots of birds around and other animals, because of the camp’s location. It is also near the estuaries, sand dunes, rockpools and a few other interesting and fun places.

Routine of Camp.

When you wake up, if everyone is awake then you can start getting dressed. If not, then you should probably stay in bed until this happens.
At 7.00 am, it is breakfast time, then after breakfast you start your first activities. Some groups will stay behind and do some duties. Afterwards they go off as well. Some activity groups will come back for lunch, but some will have lunch at their activities. After the last activities you come back have a shower if you need to and then go to dinner. After dinner you will either go to Spotlight or the Burma trail. Once you have done one of those two activities, you get ready to go to bed and then you go to bed.

Activities.

Some of the activities that you will do could be Archery, Kayaking, Waterfall and Camp out. There are still some other activities that you will do. One of the activities you can do is abseiling. It is when a harness is attached to you and a rope is clipped on. Then you walk backwards down a cliff. You may have seen it done on T.V.

Conclusion.

Port Waikato is a fun enjoyable camp that most people come home from beaming. Kids will learn how to be away from home, push their limits and learn to not be with their parents for a week.
